OOCL Germany is one of the world’s largest container ships operating nowadays. The boxship was built in 2017 by Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoje, South Korea, under hull number H2173. The vessel is implementing the most modern marine engineering technologies and following latest IMO standards. The mega container ship has overall length of 400.00 m, while the length between perpendiculars is 383.00 m. The moulded beam of the ship is 59.00 m, the boards depth is 32.50 m and the maximum summer draft is 14.50 m. The deadweight of the vessel is 197,500 DWT, the gross tonnage is 210,890 GRT and the net tonnage is 63,279 NT. The boxship OOCL Germany is designed with many advanced green features that can help meet future environmental requirements. The ship has capacity, which is among the world’s largest in modern container carrying, capable to carry 21,413 TEU. The vessel is designed with increased strength and safety, having 16 water tight compartments.

The engineering on board of the container ship OOCL Germany is reliable and highly efficient. The main engine is Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96-C, which has output power of 107,200 hp. The main engine has electronically controlled fuel injection at higher temperature, which ensures better combustion of fuel, which gives lower emissions and harmful CO2 emissions. The energy efficiency not only satisfies the current Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) baseline requirement, but is 48% better than the EEDI level required by the International Maritime Organization in 2025, making the vessel environment and highly effective for operations in world oceans. The modern engineering fullfill all the IMO requirements for safety, but also the constructions allows more effective service and lower cost per transported container.

OOCL Germany is operating under the flag of Hong Kong with IMO number 9776183, MMSI 477035800 and call sign VRQS3. The vessel is serving the Asia-Europe trade lane on the LL1 service and her port rotation is: Shanghai – Ningbo – Xiamen – Yantian – Singapore – via Suez Canal – Felixstowe – Rotterdam – Gdansk – Wilhelmshaven – Felixstowe – via Suez Canal – Singapore – Yantian – Shanghai, making whole voyage in a 77-day round trip.
